Berlin trip - 1st day update

Have a read and find out what our students have been up to for the rest of their first day.

Friday afternoon we headed out to Sachsenhausen which was one of the first concentration camps built by the Nazis in 1936. Here we learnt about who the prisoners were, the different coloured triangles they were made to wear and how the prisoners were treated by the Nazis.

Then we headed straight back to The centre of Berlin for our historical walking tour guide. We visited the different sections of city including the historical Jewish Quarter, the old eastern and western centres. We saw examples of where fighting had taken place during WW2 and more Nazi persecution through an excellent memorial of the burning of books written by enemies of the Nazis.

Then it was back to the hotel for dinner and a well deserved relax.
